Kasese Town, Uganda - The Rwenzururu King, Omusinga Charles Wise, has announced plans to recognize and celebrate the kingdom's heroes who led the struggle for the kingdom's independence.  The king made the announcement at his residence in Kasese Town, shortly after a warm welcome from his subjects who gathered along the road from Rwimi to Kasese Town. King Mumbere Wisely Iremangoma, who has been away from the kingdom since November last year for official duties and medication, emphasized the importance of honoring his father, Isaya Mukirania, and other heroes like Kapolyo, Nyamustya, and Kawambala. He also thanked Hon. Florence Kabugho, the women's MP for Kasese District, for building a statue of the kingdom's first king, Isaya Mukirania, and urged relevant offices to display it at the Kasese Roundabout. A tragic road collision occurred in Ndongo Village in Nyakiyumbu Sub County, Kasese District, on March 27, 2025, involving a Sino Truck that overturned and injured three male juveniles. The victims, aged 3 and 6, were taken to Bwera Hospital for treatment.
