Gulu Marathon Donates 10 Million Shillings to Support Education and Set For International Certification

The Gulu Marathon city team, led by Francis Gimara, has donated 10 million shillings to support education in the region. The amount represents 10% of the proceeds from last year's marathon, which was earmarked for education support. The donation was made in the presence of Gulu City Lord Mayor Alfred Okwengo who pledged the government's and city council's full support for the marathon. Okwengo highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts to promote education and sports development in the region. Rwenzori Lions Crowned Kitara Regional League Champions 2024/2025

In a dramatic turn of events, Rwenzori Lions Football Club has been declared the winner of the Kitara Regional League for the 2024/2025 season. The decision was made by the Kitara Region Football Association's disciplinary panel after a playoff match against Karuguuza United Football Club was abandoned due to protests.  The match, which was scheduled to determine the league champion, was halted at the 39th minute when Karuguuza United refused to continue playing after a penalty kick was awarded to Rwenzori Lions.  Following a thorough review, the disciplinary panel invoked FUFA Competition Rules Article 43 (3) & (9(b)) on Misconduct and Sanctions, awarding the match to Rwenzori Lions. State Minister for ICT and National Guidance, Kabbyanga Godfrey Baluku, has completed the registration process for renewing his National Identification Card at Rusese in Bukonzo West Constituency, Kasese District.  Minister Kabbyanga urged all eligible Ugandans to follow suit, emphasizing that renewing one's National ID is crucial for accessing public services and strengthening national systems. The Minister's action coincides with a nationwide mass enrollment and renewal exercise that began on May 27, 2025.  The initiative aims to register new applicants, issue new generation ID cards, and renew expired cards. Karuguuza United FC Faces Disciplinary Action From Kitara Region Football Association After Match Abandonment

The Kitara Region Football Association (KRFA) has issued an official letter to Karuguuza United FC, summoning the team to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against them. The letter follows a disturbing incident during the regional play-off match against Rwenzori Lions FC at Hiima grounds on June 14, 2025. According to the match official's report, Karuguuza United FC's head coach, officials, and substitute players invaded the field of play at the 39th minute, protesting a penalty kick awarded against their team. The situation escalated when the head coach allegedly attacked and threatened to beat the referee, causing the match to be abandoned. The KRFA has invoked Article 43(3) and (9)(b) of the FCR rules, which stipulate sanctions for misconduct and hooliganism. Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon Set to Launch in Uganda - 4th Edition

Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon organizers, led by team leader Amos Wekesa, have revealed plans to launch the 4th edition of the marathon for runners in Uganda.  The team has been actively mobilizing international runners and visitors to come to Kasese for the marathon, with promotions in Nairobi, Kenya; Kilimanjaro Marathon in Moshi; 2 Oceans Marathon in South Africa; Dubai; Boston Marathon, US; Qatar; Dar es Salaam; and Arusha. "We activated in Nairobi Kenya, then Kilimanjaro marathon in Moshi, then at the 2 oceans marathon South Africa, then Dubai, (Boston marathon, US), Qatar, Dar er salaam, Arusha," Wekesa noted.
